After a scorching European summer battered by wildfires and water shortages causing long stretches of withered grass - our eyes could only observe the yellow fields and blackened landscape in astonishment. It is with these contrasted summer colours in mind that we designed OUTRENOIR, our latest black and white curation.

Inspired by Pierre Soulages’ outrenoirs paintings and work on stained glass windows, OUTRENOIR plays with radiance using various motifs mixing jet black onyx, metallic hematite, Tahitian pearls as well as luminous freshwater pearls - each piece exploring the light’s radiance on matter and its ability to emanate from the very absence of colour.

Like Pierre Soulages’ stained glass windows for the Abbey-Church of Conques, our W bangles and XX WVN bracelets follow similar patterns - black vertical and oblique lines of onyx or hematite paired with “luminous white” freshwater pearls - a black and white combination revealing the infinite richness of light.

To complete the curation we were very pleased to acquire fantastic pre-owned gems that blend beautifully with our in-house pieces - a pair of Tahitian black earrings with an incredible luster and bold chunky black and white onyx rings. Discover our pre-owned pieces here!

With his outrenoirs, Pierre Soulages’ genius lies in his ability to capture and reveal the light from a black canvas with the simple strokes of his brush - black gives birth to light, it never exists in the absolute.
