The FOUNTAINHEAD Collection by Pierre GONALONS

at the 2025 Limited Edition Art Fair

A powerful collaboration between French designer Pierre Gonalons and Lebanese Atelier Maison Tarazi under the artistic direction of André Chami

This year marks the 5th edition of the Limited Art Fair in Brussels. Presented by the Boghossian Foundation, the Fair is devoted to the art of multiples and printed imagery, bringing together renowned designers and galleries within the exceptional Art Deco setting of the Villa Empain.

In this year’s edition, LWJ’s artistic director, André Chami, unveiled his latest edition initiated by SILA - FOUNTAINHEAD - a dialogue between Parisian designer Pierre Gonalons and Lebanese Atelier Maison Tarazi.

The Collection
Capturing the flowing elegance of small marble-inlaid fountains nestled within Levantine homes, the FOUNTAINHEAD collection exhibited during the Fair inside the Villa’s singular Art Déco Bathroom on the ground floor - presents a body of tabletop art objects: candlesticks, jewellery boxes and trinket bowls - imagined using two traditional techniques: wood marquetry and mother-of-pearl inlay.
- Wood marquetry is revisited in its purest form, showcasing a timeless and highly graphic contrast between ash and walnut wood.
-Mother-of-pearl inlay, on the other hand, is paired with Kotrani wood, the quintessential material of Levantine interiors. This dialogue evokes the warmth of Oriental woodwork alongside the modernity of the glass skyscrapers. The chosen techniques, combined with the captivating scent of Kotrani wood, transport us through time and styles.

FOUNTAINHEAD
Like a direct reference to the foundational novel by Ayn Rand, the FOUNTAINHEAD collection conceived by Pierre Gonalons and executed by Maison Tarazi under the artistic direction of André Chami transcribes the generative energy of Rand’s New York to the miraculous rise of Gulf city-states, which have emerged from the desert in recent years to become undeniable cultural powerhouses on the international stage.
